UXathon2018

OVERVIEW

The UXathon 2018 is a joint venture between Loughborough University, Hong Kong University, Deloitte Digital and Pixeled Eggs.

Each group of designers from Loughborough Design School (LDS) was partnered with HKU business students to complete an intense design sprint based on the business proposals.

THE BRIEF

'SleepOut' is a service for users with sleep issues to help create new sleeping habits.

  • To create a positive sleep experience in a different environment.

  • To use sleep aids to help create good sleeping habits, exposing the product to consumers who may invest in products.

  • To help local hotels increase their revenue by offering the service.

During the day, we were conversing with our clients in Hong Kong, going back and forth with potential ideas and improvements to the concepts.

KEY DELIVERABLES

The HKU student wanted us to look into user stories, branding, a website and promotional designs. Due to the short amount of time given, we negotiated the deliverables in order to be able to iterate the project.

We provided:

  • Persona

  • Storyboard of the user journey

  • Website wireframe

Persona

The persona we created was based on secondary research that had been conducted by the HKU student, and our own secondary research.

Customer Journey

We created a customer journey based on the research we had collected, and ideated different possibilities of how the solution would work.

We discussed several different options for the different stages of the journey.

  • Should it be a ‘treatment’ where the user would book several sessions in order to create sleep habits or whether it would be a spontaneous booking.

  • Should be user be offered only the single proposed sleep aid, or whether they should expand the range of options.

Website Wireframes

We developed a basic outline of different wireframes in order to see how the user would interact with the service. We researched into different sleep trackers and what gamification and design principles that they use in order to include in the layouts.

REFLECTION

This project was a great experience to partake in. It was a very intense day, and we delivered the deliverables via video chat to all the HKU clients.

Our team were proud to win the Best Client Relationship award.
